The Assignment Menu

Choosing any one of the four methods of grade entry (Quick Entry, Percent, Number WrongNumber Correct or Rubric Scoring) will produce a dialog that allows the user to select the information for the assignment. Pressing Tab will move through the various settings.

Each assignment can be given a weight. Weight simply is a way of assigning importance to an assignment. An assignment with a weight of one (1) is figured into the average once. If an assignment is given a weight of two (2), the assignment is figured in twice (as if it were entered in two columns). While this method of weighting grades is quite different from other electronic grade books, it produces a much simpler system and one your students will understand. You can weigh daily work 1 and quizzes 5 and even the youngest will understand that the quiz is worth 5 homework assignments. Please not that you are not creating categories for assignments, just adding it in to the mix X times.

Once the assignment is setup, the Grade Entry Screen is displayed and allows the user to enter grades. Students are listed in order. It is possible to move to a student by clicking on the entry column or using the arrow keys. Enter will also pass by a student leaving the grade untouched. Clicking on the student's name will display the student's database.

When entering grades, other symbols can be entered which may be helpful in identifying missing assignments.
I= INC (Incomplete)
A= ABS (Absent)
N= N/A (Not applicable)
B= Blank
CTRL+any action that moves the cursor to a new cell toggles a Late and an "L" appears in the cell with the grade. If the grade was already marked Late, the "L" disappears and the grade is no longer late.
