Getting Started

New Class:
During the process of creating a new class the user can customize the program to their school setting.

Selecting New: (File Menu)

A dialog will appear asking if the user wishes to start from scratch, or use an existing database. This second choice provides the user a method to move a set of students and subjects to a new (empty) file when starting a New Grading Period.

The Creating Subjects Dialog Box
(Note that pressing Tab will move through the choices)

Number of Subjects:

Choose the number of subjects to be graded.
Limit: 16 Subjects.

Enter Class Size: Limit: 38

Enter the number CURRENTLY to be entered. New students can be added later at the bottom. (Students cannot be inserted unless they are replacing a student who moved, so if you have a combination class it is suggested that you split the class and leave a few blanks between classes. If this is done, include the blanks in the number of students.

Enter Number of Languages Supported:
Limit: 4

Enter Subject Names:

Subjects should be put in the SAME ORDER as they occur on the report card. Subject names should be eight letters or less to facilitate printing. Example: SocialSt for Social Studies.

Set the Subject Type:

Each subject can be either a traditional Academic grades or Effort Only grades. If a subject is declared an Academic subject, PGGP will keep a letter grade and effort grade for the subject. If Effort Only is selected then a single effort grade will be displayed. Both choices keep individual assignment scores as a percentage.

When the entries in the dialog box are correct click on DONE.
